Hartford, Ohio With just two races left in the season, the BRP Modified Tour (Modified Tour Inc) returned to Sharon Speedway for its third race of the season at the Ohio track. 29 cars in the pits battled for the top spot on a beautiful Saturday night. Jeremiah Shingledecker used the top groove to claim his first Tour win since 2011. Going into the nights action, Rex King Jr. would hold a 30-point leader over his father, Rex King Sr. in the Tour Championship. King Sr would start on the outside of the front row, alongside Tyler Willard, for the 35-lap, $2,000 to win feature. King Jr. would start back in the 16th starting spot. At the drop of the green, Willard would jump out front with Rick Regalski moving into second and King Sr. dropping back to third. The first caution flag would fly on lap 2, as six cars get tangled up in turns 3 and 4. Only Bob Warren and Colton Walters would not be able to return to action. When the green flag waved again, it was Willard once again getting a great jump and back to P-1. Will Thomas would close in on King Sr. to battle for the third spot. Dave Murdick, who started 12th, would work his way to 6th by lap 4 and King Jr. would break the top ten. A long green flag stretch made for great battles through the field. Regalski would start to close the gap with Willard for the lead. Jim Weller Jr. would pivot through the field to grab 6th place, after starting 11th. The 37MD of Jeremiah Shingledecker moved to the top of the track and his car was on a tear. After starting 9th, J. Shingledecker would be part of a five-car battle for 5th, and he would use the high line to take the position. On lap 11, the leaders would start to get into lap traffic. J. Shingledecker would continue to gain spots and work on Regalski for second. Five more laps was all J. Shingledecker needed to close in on the 777 of Willard and take over the lead. By lap 24, J. Shingledecker had a straightaway lead over second place Willard. The remainder of the top five would include Thomas, Regalski and Jim Rasey. King Jr. was up to 6th, one spot ahead of King Sr. The only other caution flag flew on lap 33 as Richard Whitney and Travis Shingledecker spin in front of the leader. It would be a two-lap dash when the green came out again. J. Shingledecker would quickly jump out front and was in command for the last two laps, picking up his 7th career Tour win. Willard would finish second, followed by King Jr., Thomas, and Rasey. The final BRP Modified Tour race will be on Friday, August 31st at Thunder Mountain Speedway. The points spread remains 30 between Rex King Jr. and Rex King Sr. going into the final event. Only seven points separate, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in points. Unofficial Results Heat 1 results: 1. 1.
