Middlebourne, WV April 16, 2017– The Modified Tour returned to the “Bullring” at Tyler County Speedway for a 35 lap, $3000 to win event. When the checkered flags flew, it was Erick Rudolph picking up his 100th career win. Garrett Krummert finished second and Rex King Sr. came home third.
Kyle Fink and Garrett Krummert led the field to the green on a beautiful Saturday night at Tyler County Speedway. Coming across to complete lap one, it was Erick Rudolph who quickly jumped out to the lead from his second row starting position. Behind the leader was a great battle going on for second place. Randy Chrsyler held the spot, but was getting pressure from Krummert and Rex King Sr.
The first caution flag flew on lap 14 when Travis Shingledecker slowed in turn two. The top five were Rudolph leading, King Sr up to second, Krummert third, Chrysler fourth, and Fink in fifth. The lead cars were getting into heavy lapped traffic before the caution flew.
On the restart, Rudolph chose the outside and made that line work, holding onto the lead. By lap 16, Rick Regalski had moved into the top 5 and Rex King Jr. up to sixth
The caution flag last flew when Steve Barr stopped in turn two. On the restart, King Jr got around Regalski for fifth, and Krummert got a good run and moved back up to second. Rudolph would lead the rest of the way, but had to hold off a hard charging Krummert. At the checkers, it was Rudolph with his 100th career win, Krummert finishing second, King Sr third, Chrysler fourth, and King Jr. rounding out the top five.
