REX KING JR. MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW AT CHILLER THRILLER

Mercer, PA, March 26, 2017– Rex King Jr picks up the win at Modified Tour season opener.

It was a warm March night for the kickoff of the 2017 Modified Tour, Inc. season. A 27 car field took the green for the 35 lap feature led by Tyler Williard and Brad Rapp on the front row. Rapp took the lead going through the first turn and as the leaders crossed the start/finish line to complete lap one, cars were coming together behind them. Lonny Riggs got turned around at the exit of four and collected several cars. Mike Bowman and Tom Glenn were taking off on the hook, Jeremiah Shingledecker, Mat Williamson, Rex King Sr. and Erick Rudolph also sustained damage in the wreck.

On the restart, Rapp stayed in the lead, but there was a change for second as Rex King Jr. moved into that spot. Two laps later, King Jr. would pass Rapp for the lead. By lap 5, the front three cars of King Jr., Rapp, and Chrysler started to open up a gap on the fourth place car of Willard.

Lap 20, King retained the lead after two more restarts when the J. Shingledecker and Charles Willis III had issues on the backstretch. Nearly a straightaway behind leader, there was a battle going on for second between Randy Chrysler and Rapp. Rudolph, the 2016 points champion, had worked his way back into the top ten after having to make a trip to the pits on lap one.

After one more caution for debris, Rex King Jr. grabbed the checkered flag to go onto his second straight Chiller Thriller win, Chrysler finished second and Rapp came home in third. Rudolph, McGinley, Garrett Krummert, King Sr., Rick Regalski, Riggs, and Willard rounded out the top ten.
